FlagWars is operated by Bryan Roberts, an individual sole proprietor in the United States, who is the data controller for the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation.
You can reach the operator about anything on this page, including any request described under Your rights, at supportthethroneproject@gmail.com.
FlagWars collects as little as it can while still taking a payment and keeping the leaderboards honest. There is no advertising network on this site, no third-party analytics script, and no tracking pixel. Nothing here is sold to anybody, ever.
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you make a contribution | To send your receipt and to contact you about that payment. Required to perform the transaction you asked for. |
| Display name, optional public message, optional X handle | When you make a contribution | These are published on the leaderboard. That publication is the product: it is what the contribution buys. Choosing to contribute anonymously hides the name but still counts the amount. |
| Contribution amount, currency, country, timestamps | When you make a contribution | To calculate and display the rankings, and as a financial record. |
| Country derived from your IP address, and a one-way hash of that IP address | When you make a contribution | Sanctions compliance, and rate limiting so one person cannot flood the board. The IP address itself is not stored -- only the country and an irreversible hash. |
Where you arrived from: the utm_ values on the link you
followed, and the hostname of the referring site |
When you make a contribution | To know which link or advertisement brought a contributor, so money is
not spent on advertising that does not work. The full referring URL is
deliberately not stored -- only the hostname, for example
x.com. |
| A random per-tab identifier | While the site is open in your browser | To count how many people are on the site right now. It is generated fresh every time a page loads, is never stored in your browser, cannot be linked to you or to any previous visit, and is deleted within minutes of the tab closing. |
| A record of rejected submissions | If a name or message is blocked by moderation | To detect repeat abuse. |
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number is entered on Stripe's own payment page and is never transmitted to, processed by, or stored by FlagWars. Stripe is an independent data controller for that information; see the Stripe Privacy Policy.
FlagWars sets no advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser's local storage for three things, all first-party, none shared with anyone:
fw_lang — the language you chose, so the site opens in it next time.fw_flag — the country you picked to support.fw_attr — the utm_ values from the link you first
arrived on, held until you contribute so the referral can be recorded, as
described above. You can clear all three at any time through your browser's site-data controls, and the site will keep working.
That is the complete list. Your data is not sold, rented, or shared for advertising.
The operator is in the United States and the service runs on Cloudflare's global network, so if you are in the UK or EEA your data will be transferred outside your country. Both Stripe and Cloudflare provide Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers.
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. These rights are honoured regardless of where you live.
Email supportthethroneproject@gmail.com and say what you want done. Note one limit worth knowing before you contribute: deleting a published contribution removes your name and message from the leaderboard, but the contribution amount remains in the country's historical totals, because removing it would silently rewrite a public record other people relied on. The financial record of the payment is also retained where law requires it.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe your data has been mishandled, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
FlagWars is not intended for anyone under 18 and contributions from minors are not knowingly accepted. If you believe a child has contributed, email the address above and it will be refunded and deleted.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
